Peridot Sunshine

Been as though peridot is the birth stone of August, I thought I’d write a little blog about it!
The use of peridot in jewellery dates as far back as the ancient Egyptian times from around 1500 BC, making it one of the oldest gemstones. Egyptians referred to these green jewels as "gems of the sun." Which is a bit of a joke really as I’m writing this on the wettest August day yet!! However, that doesn’t mean to say that the stone may not bring you sunshine in other ways.
If you are a lover of the colour green (like me) then purchasing a piece of peridot jewellery is a must. The colour is so vibrant and strangely enough it compliments whatever outfit you choose; whether it be muted tones in the winter months, or clashing colours in the summer.
If I’m being totally honest I much prefer rough cut peridot or smooth cabochons set in silver, but that doesn’t mean to say I don’t love the sparkle of a faceted peridot. If you are into more fine jewellery, then facetted is the way forward! If you are a quirkier person like me when it comes to picking your jewellery, then rough cuts and cabochons are for you.
So, get picking your peridot gems ladies (and gentlemen). We have a few products to choose from in our online shop.
Happy shopping my fellow peridot lovers and I hope it will bring you a little sunshine.
